Girl Power

I think it would be fair to say that so far 2010 has been a year for the girls. In particular two of our BRITISH favourites;
ELLIE GOULDING and Florence and the Machine. both have absolutely stunning voices and fresh and funky styles in equal measure. While GOULDING has a voice of a electro/folk inspired angel, Florence husky and heart stopping sound works perfectly on all levels. The girls have done good. ONES TO WATCH .

ELLIE GOULDING started 2010 with and awards style bang, declared the winner of the BBC sound of 2010 poll and being honoured at the BRITS 2010 with the Critics Choice Award [and award that FLORENCE picked up in 2010.......mmmh I see a pattern emerging].

Goulding's grainy voice has an imogen heap vibe about it, but fused with that folk features and electro beats she has a made her style well and truly her OWN.

while GOULDING is sweeping the newcomer stakes, Florence has received much praise this year, continuing her success from 2009. Her absolutely inspiring albumn LUNGS has been on my playlist continually since BBC Introducing showcased her talent a few years back. The albumn which yo- yo'd around the UK top 40 since its realease in JULY 2009, finally hit the number 1 spot on the 17th JANUARY 2010, and weeks later was awarded the the MASTERCARD Albumn of the Year award at the BRITS 2010, recognition which she well deserved. And to top it all off she performed an absolutely breath-taking duet with DIZZEE RASCAL.
